deeki: [(verb); \dek-e\ ; Origin: Wolof ] - to revive, return to life.

As in… a return to creativity; a return to artistry that is void of record company executive influence; a revival of music that makes life better. Deeki – a one-word mission statement. That might be all you need to know about this not-so-average artist. If you need to know more, please read on. Mouchee grew up in a small town in rural South Louisiana – right between the muddy waters of the Mississippi River and the sugar cane fields in which generations of friends and family worked. Between there and the gritty neighborhoods of Baton Rouge, Mouchee witnessed just about what every young black male in a big city sees:.......

poverty, illiteracy, drugs, violence, racism, etc, etc, etc. The plantation culture was the root of all the above for Black America and the Diaspora. Determined to beat the system that entrapped so many young black men, Mouchee turned away from street life. But the experience and the many loved ones who have been incarcerated, or "caught up", have inspired all that he has set out to accomplish in life. Mouchee has always been a student of music. Not so much of instruments, bars, staffs, and recitals....but of music.....the spirit of music. From hip hop, to reggae, rock, jazz, country, zydeco, blues,.....whatever........ Mouchee understood and appreciated the power of music and haslong aspired to be a musical artist. He might even argue that a dose of Bob Marley beginning in early high school may have saved his soul. Music powers revolutions. Music sets the mood. Music uplifts. Music condemns. Music inspires. Music educates. Music is power.

Mouchee began writing in his teens, but being in South Louisiana he never really saw a future in music and never paid much attention to the hidden talent for writing lyrics or creating music. That all changed when a cousin from California arrived in small-town Louisiana. Mouchee began hanging out with “Kato”, a musician extraordinaire, and became completely fascinated with music creation and recording. From that point on, he made up his mind to eventually make music his life… after a some other things got done first – namely, college. During college he wrote lyrics occasionally and studied the moves of rap artists from the region who eventually blew the doors off the music industry – No Limit, Cash Money, Rap-a-Lot, Concentration Camp, and others. What they accomplished was fuel to the fire.

After college, Mouchee began writing and performing spoken word. He was hooked on the creative process and the feedback from the crowd. The entrepreneur/engineer/artist had already had it with the decline in Rap music, along with the incline of the 9-to-5. Rather than jump right in and make records, Mouchee independently studied the business and technical sides of the music industry for 3 years before forming LougaMusic, his new independent label.

Mouchee hooked up with 7Tre, a cousin who had a stash of hot beats and some graphic arts skills and "made it happen". The first EP, “Bidniss” was born. Since then, Mouchee has never turned back. In 2010 he released a full-length collection entitled Fa True, a ground-breaking release that incorporated various genres of music and spoken word that took the bubbling Nashville underground urban music scene by storm. He is now working on his third full-length release, as well as some collaborative projects with some other talented Nashville artists. For Mouchee, music is life & life is music - it’s all about the art. A self-described rebel, you can count on Mouchee to buck the trend of commercialized music. If you have any doubts, go no farther than the “Fa True” album…. Or the “Bidniss” EP. There is so much more on the way so stay tuned for the revival. Stay tuned for M. Deeki.
